IRANIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY QUESTIONS WESTERN “RULES-BASED ORDER”

A spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry has issued a sharp critique of Western foreign policy, challenging the concept of an international “rules-based order” promoted by European officials.

The official questioned the legitimacy of these rules, pointing to the ongoing conflict in Gaza as a primary example. “What specific rules are being referenced?” the spokesperson asked. “Are these the same regulations that permit the current situation to unfold in Palestinian territories?”

The statement further criticized what it described as selective application of international principles. It raised concerns over military actions targeting national sovereignty and accused Western nations of employing double standards in human rights matters.

The remarks reflect deepening tensions between Iran and Western governments over fundamental differences in interpreting international law and global governance.
