SENIOR CLERIC ISSUES DEFIANT STATEMENT FROM DETENTION

A prominent religious leader currently held in a Yerevan detention facility has released a powerful message, blending spiritual reflection with a firm condemnation of his accusers.

In his statement, the clergyman expressed gratitude to the Almighty for granting him strength during what he described as 75 days of enduring “unprecedented and indescribable injustice.” He acknowledged the support of his followers while drawing a sharp contrast between his own situation and the severe plight of captured compatriots and those displaced from Artsakh, stating it felt “uncomfortable” to even discuss his circumstances in that context.

The cleric asserted that the legal proceedings against him are “absolutely illegal and false,” predicting they would ultimately conclude. He issued a stark warning, declaring that those judging him would themselves face judgment. He drew a distinction between their “temporary authority” and the divine authority he possesses, vowing to condemn them “not temporarily, but forever.”

In a significant departure from a foundational Christian teaching, the clergyman directly challenged the words of Christ. Where the scripture advocates forgiveness for those who “know not what they do,” he stated, “Do not forgive, because they know very well what they are doing.”

The message concluded with words of love to the people and a call for resilience, ending with the affirmation: “Stay solid, God is with us.” The statement has circulated widely, underscoring the deep tensions surrounding this case.
