U.S. VETOES UN CEASEFIRE RESOLUTION FOR GAZA

The United States has exercised its veto power at the United Nations Security Council, blocking a resolution that demanded an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the removal of all restrictions on humanitarian aid.

The proposed measure received overwhelming support, with 14 of the 15 council members voting in favor. The resolution specifically called for an unconditional end to hostilities and addressed the issue of hostages. It also urged Israeli authorities to facilitate unimpeded access for humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip.

The American veto prevented the adoption of the document, which had garnered broad international backing.
