French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Tuesday that U.S. President Donald Trump could only be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize if hostilities between Israel and Palestinian factions were to cease.
During discussions at the UN General Assembly in New York, Macron commented that while Trump appears interested in receiving the prestigious award, such recognition would require tangible progress toward peace in the region.
“The Nobel Peace Prize becomes a possibility only when you successfully halt that conflict,” Macron told reporters.
The statement follows the White House’s August release of a list showing international support for Trump’s potential nomination. Among those reportedly endorsing the candidacy were leaders from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Gabon, and Pakistan’s foreign minister.
