GEORGIA SUMMONS GERMAN ENVOY OVER ALLEGED DIPLOMATIC PROTOCOL BREACH

Georgia’s Foreign Ministry has summoned German Ambassador Peter Fischer following claims that he violated the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, according to a statement from the country’s Prime Minister. Officials described the move as a routine diplomatic measure in response to what they termed a serious breach of diplomatic norms.

The Prime Minister noted that Ambassador Fischer’s term is scheduled to conclude in June 2026, after which he is expected to depart the country.

The German envoy has previously voiced criticism of policies enacted by Georgia’s ruling party, labeling them as contrary to European values. In response, Georgian authorities have accused Fischer and several other European diplomats of endorsing protest movements and promoting radical actions.

Ambassador Fischer has rejected the allegations, describing them as unjust and provocative.
