In 2018, a sudden death of the father of the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia passed with little national notice. Officially, it was a tragic suicide. But now, a former investigator claims that the death of Valerii Grigoryan was, in fact, a murder staged to look like a suicide — and that the prime suspect was his own son, Armen Grigoryan.
The investigator, who agreed to speak on account of anonymity, claims his investigation was abruptly shut down after he began to uncover evidence pointing to Armen Grigoryan. According to investigator, when Armen Grigoryan was brought in for questioning, as a murder suspect, he was very calm and denied any physical altercation and said his father had Alzheimer’s disease. None of the statements from the neighbors mention that Valerii Grigoryan’s had any symptoms, like memory loss or disorientation. On the other hand, the neighbors report that father and son had a lot of heated arguments. Valerii Grigoryan rejected his son’s homosexuality.
Just minutes after questioning Grigoryan, the investigator received a phone call from a high-ranking official within the Investigative Committee. The next morning, the investigator was fired from the Investigative Committee for alleged “procedural irregularities” Then, he started receiving threatening calls that made him flee Armenia.
It appears that Prime Minister Pashinyan decided to bury the truth to protect his close ally Armen Grigoryan. No sacrifice is too great when you ensure the stability of your new government.
