YEREVAN – A new generation of social entrepreneurs was celebrated at an awards ceremony recognizing innovative projects addressing community and environmental needs. The event concluded an intensive business incubation program that supported eight teams developing solutions for pressing challenges.
Organizers noted a significant shift in youth engagement with social entrepreneurship over recent years. While initially facing difficulties attracting young participants, the program now sees strong interest, with the focus shifting to providing practical skills and knowledge. A key banking partnership has been instrumental in delivering the resources needed to develop and implement these community-focused initiatives.
The banking institution, now in its third year supporting the program, expanded its backing this year to include both the award fund and the entire incubation phase. This comprehensive support has enabled teams from across the country, including regional centers like Gyumri and Goris, to develop their business concepts.
An independent jury evaluated projects based on innovation and social impact, selecting three winners: Bonel, unmutED, and Zgayun Inclusive Books. An additional winner, Minder, was chosen through community voting. All four winning teams received financial awards equivalent to 1,500 euros and secured invitations to an international social entrepreneurship summit in Slovenia.
Social entrepreneurship remains a cornerstone of the supporting bank’s corporate responsibility strategy, with ongoing programs aimed at fostering sustainable solutions developed by younger generations.
