GYUMRI MAYOR ACCUSES PRIME MINISTER OF DISTRIBUTING ELECTORAL BRIBES

Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan has publicly accused the Prime Minister of orchestrating the distribution of electoral bribes in the city. The mayor’s remarks came in response to earlier statements from the head of government, who claimed there were irregularities in Gyumri’s election results.

Ghukasyan challenged the Prime Minister directly, questioning his focus on Gyumri while referencing broader political issues. He alleged that electoral bribes were openly distributed, a practice he claimed was widely witnessed by journalists and discussed throughout the city. The mayor insisted there were specific instances where money was given to individuals.

The Prime Minister had previously addressed concerns about the electoral process in Gyumri, acknowledging that bribes were distributed and emphasizing the need to develop mechanisms to prevent such occurrences in the future. He stated that both the state and its democratic institutions must strengthen their systems to safeguard election integrity.
