GERMANY PUSHES TO BECOME LEADING DRONE PRODUCER

Germany’s Economy and Energy Minister has announced a major initiative to position the country as a premier manufacturer of both military and civilian drones. The minister emphasized that achieving dominance in aerial technology requires deliberate effort and investment.

The official stated that Germany must rapidly expand drone production and advance related technologies, particularly artificial intelligence. To accomplish this goal, the government plans to mobilize resources across various sectors, including major industrial players, small and medium-sized enterprises, startups, and research institutions.

The minister highlighted that Europe’s security challenges will increasingly be addressed through domestic manufacturing capabilities. Drones are envisioned for protecting critical infrastructure such as airports, seaports, energy pipelines, refineries, LNG terminals, research facilities, medical centers, and power distribution stations.

This announcement follows recent security incidents where unauthorized drone activity disrupted operations at a major German airport, underscoring the urgency of developing protective measures and domestic technological solutions.
