Luka Menalo, the Bosnian midfielder for Rijeka, expressed his frustration following his team’s recent league loss, a match marred by an early sending-off.
Menalo noted that his side entered the game with high hopes, but their plans were disrupted just minutes into the match when they conceded an early goal and then had a player sent off. Despite being reduced to ten men, the team attempted to regroup and play constructively.
He acknowledged the strength of the opposing side, pointing to their talented players and effectiveness from set-pieces, which led to the opening goal.
The midfielder emphasized that Rijeka had aimed to secure all three points and believed it was achievable. He suggested that with a full squad on the field, they could have at least scored once, keeping the match within reach.
Looking ahead, Menalo stressed the importance of winning each of their remaining five fixtures if the team hopes to advance in the standings.
He also took a moment to thank the traveling supporters, praising their unwavering loyalty even during difficult periods.
