The football club “Akhmat” has formally called for an investigation and sanctions following an on-field altercation involving its defender Tujan Ndong and “Krasnodar” midfielder Eduard Spertsyan. The incident, which resulted in a red card for Ndong, occurred during a recent match where “Akhmat” suffered a 2-0 defeat.
In an official statement, the Grozny-based club asserted that Spertsyan directed racial insults at Ndong, prompting the defender’s reaction that led to his dismissal. Spertsyan has denied the accusation, claiming instead that Ndong insulted his mother.
“Akhmat” is urging the Russian Football Union to conduct a thorough probe into the matter. The club demands that Spertsyan face punishment for what it terms racist behavior and that Ndong’s red card be rescinded, arguing it was a response to severe provocation.
The club’s press service referenced a prior incident in 2017, when a “Krasnodar” player allegedly used a racial slur against an “Akhmat” athlete, though an apology was accepted at that time.
In the Russian Premier League standings, “Akhmat” currently holds ninth place with 15 points, while “Krasnodar” sits second with 23 points.
