A Yerevan court has denied a motion to disqualify the presiding judge in the ongoing legal proceedings involving members of the “Holy Struggle” movement. The decision came during the latest hearing at the Shengavit district court, where Judge Karen Farkhoyan will continue overseeing the case.
The court also approved an extension of the procedural deadline for defendant Vahagn Chakhalyan, a move that will proceed without defense counsel participation.
The case centers on allegations that movement leader Bagrat and numerous associates attempted to seize governmental control through organized actions between November 2024 and January 2025. Prosecutors allege the group engaged in preparatory activities and obtained materials intended for what authorities characterize as terrorist activities and power seizure attempts.
Among the named defendants are Movses Sharbatyan, Tigran Topalyan, Lydia Mantashyan, and several others accused of participating in the alleged conspiracy. The indictment claims they systematically worked to create conditions favorable for overthrowing the established government.
The judicial proceedings continue as the court examines the evidence and allegations against the movement participants.
