U.S. CITIZENS ACCUSED OF COVERT INFLUENCE CAMPAIGN IN GREENLAND

American citizens with ties to former President Donald Trump have reportedly conducted a covert campaign in Greenland, attempting to persuade local residents to support closer ties with the United States over Denmark. The operation, which Danish authorities say deliberately sought to create friction between Greenland and the Danish government, has drawn sharp diplomatic responses.

The Danish Foreign Ministry summoned the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Copenhagen to address what it described as unacceptable interference in internal affairs. While at least three individuals involved are believed to have connections to Trump, it remains unclear whether they were acting independently or under official direction.

Greenland, an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, has repeatedly rejected external attempts to influence its political alignment. Both Greenlandic and Danish authorities have emphasized that any foreign intervention in their relationship is firmly opposed.

This incident follows previous expressions of interest from Trump’s administration regarding U.S. influence over Greenland, which were met with similar resistance.
