ARMENIA LAUNCHES MAJOR SCHOOL CONSOLIDATION PROGRAM TO IMPROVE EDUCATION QUALITY

A significant educational reform is set to begin next academic year as the government moves forward with plans to consolidate smaller schools into regional educational clusters.

During a high-level consultation, officials detailed the progress of infrastructure improvements supporting this initiative. Construction and renovation work is currently underway at 358 schools and educational complexes across the country. Additionally, approximately 305 kilometers of roads leading to cluster schools in ten regions have been upgraded between 2021 and 2025 to ensure better accessibility.

The consolidation program will commence in September 2026, initially involving eight regions. Under this phased approach, 59 schools will be reorganized into 30 cluster institutions. The following academic year will see further expansion, with education being reorganized for over 180 small schools and consolidated into approximately 100 educational facilities.

The consultation also addressed practical implementation aspects, including transportation models and road infrastructure requirements to support the new educational framework.

Government officials emphasized that these structural changes represent strategic reforms aimed at enhancing educational standards. The primary objective is to guarantee every student access to quality education with appropriate learning conditions, regardless of their geographical location.

Specific directives have been issued to relevant agencies to ensure the smooth execution of this comprehensive educational modernization effort.
