ARMENIAN AMBASSADOR DISCUSSES REGIONAL PEACE AND COMMUNITY TIES DURING CRETE VISIT

During an official visit to Crete, Armenia’s Ambassador to Greece met with the Mayor of Heraklion, Alexis Kalokerinos. The discussions centered on the role of the Armenian community in Greece and recent diplomatic developments in the South Caucasus.

The ambassador highlighted the active participation of Armenians in the social and economic life of Heraklion and other parts of Greece, noting their ability to preserve cultural identity while contributing to local society.

Regional stability was a key topic, with the ambassador providing an update on Armenia’s progress toward normalizing relations with Azerbaijan, based on mutual recognition of borders as outlined in the 1991 Almaty Declaration.

Mayor Kalokerinos expressed support for Armenia’s efforts to improve ties with neighboring states and affirmed his ongoing attention to developments in the region. Both sides also explored opportunities for cooperation between Heraklion and cities in Armenia.
