ARMENIAN CHURCH CONDEMNS COURT RULING AGAINST ARCHBISHOP

The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin has denounced a recent court decision involving Archbishop Michael, labeling it a politically motivated act that demonstrates the judiciary’s lack of independence.

In a strongly worded statement, the church expressed deep concern over what it described as a pattern of selective justice and arbitrary rulings. It declared the verdict illegal and vowed to pursue all available legal avenues to overturn the decision.

The statement also extended prayers and support to Archbishop Michael, Archbishop Bagrat, prominent philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, and others it considers unjustly detained, invoking a biblical passage affirming divine justice.

The church’s position highlights ongoing tensions between religious institutions and state authorities regarding judicial independence and the rule of law.
