YEREVAN — A member of the opposition “Hayastan” faction in the National Assembly has publicly questioned the diplomatic value of the Armenian Prime Minister’s recent official visit to Japan. The criticism came shortly after Japanese Prime Minister Sigeru Isiba announced his resignation.
In a social media post, the lawmaker suggested that the Armenian delegation failed to draw meaningful lessons from Japan’s governance model. He specifically pointed to what he described as a lack of self-reflection by Armenian officials regarding policy shortcomings.
The parliamentarian urged the country’s leadership to take inspiration from the conduct of the outgoing Japanese leader. He characterized the diplomatic mission as another setback in Armenia’s foreign policy efforts, noting the timing of the Japanese Prime Minister’s resignation announcement coincided with the Armenian delegation’s return.
