YEREVAN – A major political party has declared that the struggle for Artsakh remains unresolved and called for a public demonstration to reaffirm national rights and dignity.
In a recent statement, the party emphasized that September 2 symbolizes the resilience and victory of the Armenian people, marking the establishment of the second Armenian republic. The declaration accuses the governments of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey of attempting to force the closure of the Artsakh issue and the silent acceptance of what it terms a genocide, urging citizens to relinquish their rights and dignity.
The statement asserts that the Artsakh chapter is not closed and that the ongoing struggle to protect Armenian rights does not endanger the Republic of Armenia but rather safeguards it. It highlights the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Armenians from Artsakh due to what it describes as ethnic cleansing by Azerbaijan, emphasizing that their desire to return home and live on their ancestral land remains strong.
The party framed the issue as a unifying national cause, transcending internal differences. It called on all Armenians to stand together in demanding the release of Armenian prisoners held in Baku and to reject agreements signed under coercion that violate their rights.
A large unity rally is scheduled for September 2 at 18:30 in Freedom Square. Participants are expected to collectively affirm that the Artsakh conflict remains unresolved, oppose imposed arrangements, and continue the fight for the return of Artsakh, national dignity, and the protection of the Republic of Armenia. Organizers aim to show the world that the Armenian people neither deny nor forget their cause and remain committed to their struggle.
