AZERBAIJANI LEADER ANNOUNCES NEW REGIONAL TRANSPORT CORRIDOR

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has declared that a major transportation route, referred to as the “Trump’s path,” will be inaugurated in August following an agreement reached with the de facto prime minister in Washington.

According to regional analysts, this announcement signals the initial phase of a broader strategy to establish a transport link through Armenia’s southern Syunik region, known as Zangezur in Azerbaijan. The corridor would create a direct connection between Azerbaijan and its western ally.

The development represents a significant geopolitical shift in the South Caucasus, potentially altering regional trade patterns and transportation networks. The planned route’s implementation is expected to have substantial implications for regional connectivity and economic integration.

Observers note that the timing of this announcement, coming after high-level diplomatic engagements in Washington, underscores the strategic importance both regional and international powers are placing on transportation infrastructure in the area. The project’s realization would mark a notable development in regional geopolitics following recent conflicts.
