CHINA, RUSSIA VOW TO DEEPEN STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP AT SCO SUMMIT

Chinese leader Xi Jinping declared that Beijing’s relationship with Moscow represents a model of enduring friendship and comprehensive strategic coordination between major powers. The statement came during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is visiting China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit and commemorations marking 80 years since the end of World War II.

Xi emphasized China’s commitment to enhancing high-level exchanges with Russia and supporting each other’s core interests and development paths. He proposed guiding bilateral cooperation through major projects that would serve as exemplary models and deepen the integration of mutual interests.

The Chinese leader highlighted the importance of strengthening coordination on multilateral platforms including the United Nations, SCO, BRICS, and G20. He stressed that both nations, as permanent UN Security Council members and WWII allies, bear responsibility for preserving the outcomes of that victory and maintaining proper historical perspectives.

Xi further articulated that China’s global governance initiative seeks collaboration with like-minded countries to uphold the UN Charter’s principles and advance a more equitable international system. Both nations pledged to jointly promote the development of a shared future for humanity through enhanced multilateral cooperation.
