The European Union is launching an initiative to actively invest in Ukraine’s military industry and facilitate its relocation to Europe, a move expected to generate significant employment opportunities across member states. The announcement came during an informal gathering of EU foreign and defense ministers, where officials outlined plans to integrate Ukrainian defense capabilities into European industrial infrastructure.
According to diplomatic sources, the proposal involves inviting Ukrainian military manufacturers to establish operations within EU territories. This strategic relocation is viewed as mutually beneficial, creating new industrial jobs in Europe while preserving Ukraine’s defense production capacity.
Denmark has emerged as an early participant in this initiative, with its defense ministry confirming that the first Ukrainian defense companies could begin production on Danish soil within weeks. The relocation effort will initially focus on drone manufacturing capabilities, building upon existing unmanned aerial vehicle production infrastructure established earlier this year in Odense.
Defense officials noted that hosting Ukrainian defense facilities would also strengthen Denmark’s own military capabilities, with produced equipment being available for Danish armed forces.
This industrial relocation strategy has gained momentum as security concerns have grown regarding the vulnerability of defense facilities in conflict-affected regions. The European approach aims to safeguard critical defense manufacturing while stimulating job growth within the EU’s industrial sector.
