FIFA PRESIDENT STRESSES FOOTBALL’S UNIFYING ROLE AMID GLOBAL CONFLICTS

The head of world football’s governing body has stated that while the sport cannot resolve international disputes, it holds a unique power to bring people together. Speaking at a FIFA Council meeting in Zurich, the organization’s president emphasized football’s role as a force for peace and unity, particularly in light of ongoing tensions in the Gaza region.

“Football possesses a remarkable ability to bridge divides in our fragmented world,” the official noted. “Our thoughts are with all those affected by conflicts worldwide. The central message of our sport remains one of harmony and togetherness.”

The FIFA leader clarified that while the organization cannot address political conflicts directly, it remains committed to promoting the game’s unifying qualities and its educational and humanitarian values.

The council’s agenda did not include discussion of potential restrictions on Israeli teams in international competitions. This comes as European football authorities reportedly consider the status of Israeli clubs and national squads in continental tournaments, though no formal decisions have been reached regarding their participation.
