Iran’s Foreign Ministry has issued a formal statement condemning recent actions by Western nations regarding nuclear-related sanctions. The ministry characterized the activation of the so-called “snapback” mechanism by the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and France as legally invalid and without foundation.
According to the statement, these countries have substantially violated their commitments under previous agreements while simultaneously supporting military actions against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities. The ministry asserted these actions contravene international law, non-proliferation standards, and specific provisions of the United Nations Charter.
The diplomatic communication emphasized that the restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 2231 should be considered expired, with their designated ten-year term concluding on October 18, 2025. Iranian officials described the sanctions reinstatement as not only legally unjustified but also morally and logically unacceptable.
The statement further accused the involved Western nations of making no genuine efforts to resolve disputes through diplomatic channels, instead engaging in what Tehran characterizes as persistent violations of international agreements.
