Iran’s UN ambassador has dismissed a European Union proposal regarding Tehran’s nuclear program, describing it as containing impractical preconditions that undermine the negotiation process. The diplomat argued that such demands should emerge from discussions rather than serving as initial requirements, noting that the current conditions are fundamentally unworkable.
The European proposal reportedly offered temporary sanctions relief for up to six months in exchange for Iran allowing International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors access to monitor enriched uranium stockpiles and engaging in direct talks with the United States. However, Iranian officials maintain that these stipulations represent an inappropriate starting position for any meaningful dialogue.
The development signals continued tensions in nuclear negotiations, with Tehran taking a firm stance against what it perceives as unreasonable preliminary demands from European powers.
