YEREVAN – A senior political figure has issued a stark warning that current government policies are leading the nation toward cultural and political dissolution, framing the situation as an existential crisis for statehood.
Speaking at a public gathering, the official stated that continual concessions to external demands are systematically undermining national sovereignty. He argued that this approach serves a broader regional agenda aimed at diminishing Armenia’s distinct identity, which is viewed as an obstacle to pan-Turkic ambitions.
The official criticized the administration for what he termed a deliberate strategy of defeat, alleging that the government had misled the public about military outcomes and sacrificed national territory. He questioned why established borders weren’t defended, suggesting these losses served no strategic purpose but rather represented self-inflicted damage.
“Every perceived victory by this administration translates to a national defeat,” the official stated. “They will persist on this path until all external demands are met without resistance.”
He challenged the notion that ongoing concessions would achieve stability, asserting that genuine security can only be established through equitable agreements and maintained military-political equilibrium. The official particularly warned against treating ceasefire arrangements as comprehensive peace solutions, describing this approach as potentially catastrophic.
The political leader expressed concern about recent diplomatic agreements, suggesting undisclosed provisions might contain elements contrary to national interests. He predicted that settlement frameworks could be exploited to justify demographic changes and financial claims against Armenia, potentially reducing the country to a bargaining chip in wider geopolitical negotiations.
“The nation faces the risk of becoming merely an arena for external powers rather than maintaining its sovereign role,” he cautioned.
Despite the grave assessment, the official emphasized that the situation remains reversible through national unity and political change. He called for replacing the current administration with leadership capable of addressing accumulated challenges, asserting that the Armenian people still possess the capacity to preserve their statehood if they exercise their collective will.
“The solution lies in our hands,” he concluded. “We must install governance that can genuinely solve our nation’s pressing problems.”
