A senior opposition figure has declared his intention to directly confront the Prime Minister in the lead-up to their scheduled debate. Levon Zurabyan, deputy chairman of the Armenian National Congress, announced he would provide what he termed “training” for Nikol Pashinyan before their face-to-face discussion.
Zurabyan specifically questioned the Prime Minister’s recent statements regarding military deployments prior to 2018. He challenged Pashinyan to clarify what Armenian soldiers were doing outside the country’s sovereign territory during that period, suggesting the Prime Minister’s narrative contained contradictions.
The opposition leader further asserted that if Pashinyan had indeed described certain territories as occupied before taking office, his subsequent actions as commander-in-chief would represent a significant policy reversal. Zurabyan characterized this as maintaining what he called “the worst of Baku’s positions” for over two years.
The exchange signals escalating tensions between government and opposition figures as political debates approach, with both sides preparing for what promises to be a contentious exchange of views on national security and foreign policy matters.
