SLOVAK LEADER SEES PATH TO UKRAINE PEACE, WARNS ON ECONOMIC FALLOUT

Following discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has expressed optimism that security assurances for Ukraine could be finalized swiftly, paving the way for what he termed a just resolution to the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Fico acknowledged that while differing viewpoints exist on certain matters, the fundamental relationship between Slovakia and Ukraine remains robust. He emphasized the continued strength of bilateral ties despite these policy divergences.

The Slovak leader also issued a caution regarding the wider economic consequences of the war. He pointed specifically to attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, stating that such strikes are having a damaging economic impact on Slovakia as well.
