TRUMP SUGGESTS LIFTING SANCTIONS ON TURKEY IN EXCHANGE FOR REDUCED RUSSIAN OIL PURCHASES

U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that Washington may remove sanctions against Turkey and permit the sale of American F-35 fighter jets, contingent on Ankara reducing its reliance on Russian oil. The announcement came during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s first visit to the White House in six years, a meeting seen as part of Turkey’s broader effort to strengthen ties with the U.S. and secure major defense and trade agreements.

When asked by reporters about the possibility of supplying F-35 aircraft to Turkey, President Trump responded positively, stating, “I believe he will be able to successfully acquire what he is seeking.”

Trump also suggested that sanctions imposed on Turkey could be lifted swiftly, adding that if the discussions proceed smoothly, the removal could happen “almost immediately.”
