Former U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed significant praise for Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, describing him as a powerful and self-assured figure. Trump acknowledged that while he typically doesn’t favor confident individuals, he has consistently held Erdogan in high regard.
The American leader emphasized Erdogan’s global stature and his role in building a formidable military force. Trump suggested that the Turkish president could play a crucial mediating role in the Ukraine conflict if he chooses to maintain a neutral position.
According to Trump, both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky hold Erdogan in high esteem. “Everyone respects Erdogan,” Trump stated, adding his own strong personal admiration for the Turkish leader.
Trump also indicated that Turkey might reconsider its energy purchases from Russia should Moscow continue its military actions in Ukraine.
