A senior American diplomat expressed visible frustration with journalists during a press conference in Beirut on Tuesday, urging them to adopt what he termed “civilized” behavior.
The official, speaking alongside another U.S. envoy, was in Lebanon as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region. He interrupted the session to address what he characterized as disorderly conduct among reporters, linking their behavior to broader regional challenges.
“Please remain quiet for a moment,” the diplomat stated. “I need to make something clear. When situations descend into chaos, we will depart. If you wish to understand developments, conduct yourselves in a civilized, respectful manner. This reflects the wider problem affecting this region.”
The remarks came during discussions focused on regional security matters.
